2002
This was the year of the huge tent. We could not have the Coverall Building back so we rented a huge tent. We held a walkathon to raise the money for the building and raised over $7000. Our attendance was about the same as last year.
The performers were the Baler Strings, One Heart, Arlen Salte and High Valley. We had a youth program with High Valley on Sunday afternoon. We had Gery again as MC.
We didn’t get over the 1000 mark in attendance but we did have a few more than last year. Everyone was treated to good up lifting music and lots of good laughs, something we all need in this uncertain world. The tent was great and the storm on Friday night just proved that we need a roof over our heads for this kind of event. Thanks again to all who took part in the walkathon to make the tent possible. Last month I failed to mention one walker, Marguerite Eindhoven who was also one of the walkers on June 29th. Thanks Marguerite and sorry for missing you. Many thanks go out again to all who gave a helping hand.
Again, to the Town of Granum for its support, the fire department for parking and first aide, the park personnel for looking after the campers, all the many sponsors who donated money or needed items and to the great committee members for all their hard work. A great big thank you to Claresholm Local Press, and Macleod Gazette for the wonderful support coverage and support of the Gospel Jamboree. Next years even will be July 25, 26, 27th – See you then!
2001
This was the year of the Coverall building which was donated to us. We did not charge but just took an offering. We had around 800 people on Saturday night and Sunday. The headliner performers were One Heart, The Baler Strings, The Rawling Brothers. Our MC was Gery Schbert, a comedian from Calgary.
This was held the last week-end in July and it was decided to keep the event on this same week-end each year.
2000
We experimented with having no charge on Friday night. We charged for the rest of the week – end. Friday night was well attended but the rest was not. We had local talent on the Friday. It was after this year that we decided to go with free will offering. The performers were the Hunter Family, Play It Again, Debbie Zepick, EJ Marois and a group from High River called Prairie Wind. It was held June 30th, July 1st and July 2nd.
1999
The was the year of the rain. Friday nights’ youth night was not well attended and we had to hold it in the hall. Saturday we moved outside again only to move back into the hall for Saturday night. The performers were The Rawling Brothers, The Singing Hills and Dennis Grandy. We held this at the end of June.
1998
This was our very first Jamboree!! The headliners were the Rawling Brothers, Debbie Zepick, and Ken Grambo. There were about 135 people at the Saturday night performance. A simple beginning. The event was held the end of August and farmers were in the field.
